Description
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to apply first aid response to infants, children and adults. This course meets all requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma training under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for educators and support staff working in an education and child care setting who are required to respond to first aid emergencies including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

Award Issued
Upon successful completion of the assessment requirements of this course, students will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment and wallet card.

Recertification
As per ARC guidelines:

  • First aid refresher recommended every 3 years.
  • CPR refresher recommended annually.

Pre-requisites
Nil

Pre-entry Requirements
Students must be physically capable of participating in the practical activities and demonstrate a basic level of language, literacy and numeracy.

Delivery Methods
The course content will be delivered in a classroom environment using PowerPoint presentations, videos, group discussions and a number of demonstration and skill building activities.

Assessment Methods
Students will be assessed in a number of simulated first aid scenarios potentially encountered in the workplace. The practical assessment will also involve the demonstration of CPR on adult, child, and infant manikins.
Underpinning knowledge will be assessed with a theory assessment (containing multiple-choice questions).

Notes
All of our courses are tailored to site policies and procedures.
Appropriate clothing is to be worn when attending training including long pants, long shirts and enclosed footwear. PPE specified by the workplace is also to be worn.
