Refresher courses

Why renew?

Industry now requires students to renew units of competency and qualifications regularly to remain current and up-to-date.

• First Aid every 3 years (as per ARC guidelines)

• Confined Space every 2 years

• Work at Heights every 2 years

• LVR/CPR every 12 months (CPR as per ARC guidelines)

Refresher courses are quicker and cheaper than initial courses, so ensure you book your students in before their course is due for renewal.

Requirements for refresher training

Like the wording indicates, ‘Refresher Training’ is designed for those who have previously undertaken training, and simply need to refresh their knowledge and skills. Our refresher training is a fast-track version of our full (initial) course. Our refresher courses include similar content and practical assessment tasks to the full course, but less time is spent covering the theory.

Refresher training is only available for those people who have proof of undertaking this training previously. The following written confirmation will be required prior to booking on a refresher course:

  • Name of participant
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Date of previous training

Changes made to our Confined Space course

In light of recent updates to the RII Training Package by Skills DMC, we have made some changes to the content and focus of our confined space course. As of May 2016, our initial confined space course will be reduced to an 8-hour course (rather than 2-days) and will focus solely on RIIWHS202D Enter and work in confined spaces.

Clients who require training to operate a breathing apparatus in response to a hazardous materials incident, will be required to attend a separate 8-hour course called Operate a breathing apparatus and respond to incident.

As of May 2016, our confined space refresher course will be a minimum of 6 hours. This is to accommodate additional ‘Performance Evidence’ requirements in the unit of competency.

Please refer to the new Course Brochure below. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding these changes.
