Description
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to respond to first aid scenarios and apply first aid procedures (including CPR), prior to the arrival of additional medical assistance. The content and practical scenarios covered in this course conform with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Pre-entry Requirements
Students must be physically capable of participating in the practical activities and demonstrate a basic level of language, literacy and numeracy.
Delivery Methods
The course content will be delivered in a classroom environment using PowerPoint presentations, video, group discussion and a number of demonstration and skill building activities.
Assessment Methods
Students will be assessed in a practical assessment simulating relevant first aid scenarios potentially encountered in the workplace. The practical assessment will also involve the demonstration of CPR on an adult and infant manikin.
Underpinning knowledge will be assessed through the use of a theory assessment (containing multiple-choice questions).

Appropriate clothing is to be worn when attending training including long pants, long shirts and enclosed footwear. PPE specified by the workplace is also to be worn.
